Hi Team,
We are in the process for migrating our sap system to S/4Hana public could . The project has already started .
Currently the solution manager 7.2 on our landscape is running on windows server and with Oracle 12 C database . The database is already out of support .
We are not using any of the solution manager functionalities . And hence would like to decommission this solution manager system.
Could you please confirm if there is any issue or requirement from SAP to have it running ?
Given that the new S/4 HANA implementation is already in progress.
Thanks.

Hi Customer,
There is no mandatory SAP requirement to keep SAP Solution Manager 7.2 running for an SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition implementation.
For S/4HANA Cloud (public), SAP’s recommended lifecycle management tool is SAP Cloud ALM. Solution Manager is not required to operate or support S/4HANA Cloud systems.
If Solution Manager is not being used (e.g. ChaRM, Test Management, Monitoring, Maintenance Planner) and there are no remaining dependencies from ECC or other SAP systems, it can be safely decommissioned.
Before decommissioning, please ensure:
No active SAP systems depend on Solution Manager
Any required historical data (audit/compliance) is archived or exported
Given that ECC systems will be decommissioned after the project, there is no SAP-mandated need to keep Solution Manager running.

"Any required historical data (audit/compliance) is archived or exported" - this is a little bit tricky. Usually you need historical data for the ITSM/ChaRM (Focused Build) part, as some documents (FI, HR) are audit relevant.
As far as I know, the displaying of data archived by SARA is rather complex and may need an existing SAP Solution Manager for this task (see https://me.sap.com/notes/3365358).
Two of my customers decided to go for an external solution (ABAP report), which exports a selection of these CRM documents in a spread sheet plus PDF files, which then can be easily archived and retrieved to be viewed with a standard spread sheet program and/or a PDF viewer.
PS. Long rest in peace, glorious SolMan ❤️
