Hi,
It is report represented in form of a DASH BOARD (like the one you have in car)
In one Screen you try to rpeort on many relevant KPIS generally across functional areas & mostly in graphic ( charts, Pies, colored indicators etc).
It is generally meant for top management people who wants to have a look at high level indicators say at company level across functional areas.It also has capability to drill down to problem area, just to give you an example -
say I am CEO I shall like to have a looks at KPIS across functions like in Fin - credit status, funds flow, In manu - production status, inventory value, Sales- Rev / Quantity at organization level.
If I find problem with say Sales fig I can drill down to figure out which produt / area etc is not performing well & take corrective action.

Hi;
In simple term; I would say The Dashboard is a tool where you can plug in your different reports in one web portal page. You can create different tab; and have the summary reports displays in the same page. We are using BW Dashboard and the users really like it.
HOpe this helps.

Here is an overview of the options you have for dashboards, cockpits and scorecards using Web Application Designer, Visual Composer, Java SDK, 3rd Party, SEM- CPM, Portal iViews etc. as well as best practices for developing Cockpits.

Hi,
The Web report in BW each have specific URL. But for the users it is difficult to remember the URL.
So they create a Dashbord which essentially displays the main page from where you can navigate to the report that you want. The dashboard typically may contain chart also. The dashboards are now designed in Enterprise Portal. The dashboard main page would be different for different users based on their role.
Hope this helps.
Bye
