Hi Team,

Can you explain the details behind the Keep Source Data Vs Delete Source Data in Consolidation Process? What exactly "Source Data" means here? We are planning to upload the data using upload template. How to use it?

With Regards

Hello Vinu,

Source data refers to the original data that you want to consolidate or migrate. It's the data that exists in your various source systems or spreadsheets before you bring it into your SAP system or other ERP system.

1. Keep Source Data:

  • When you select the "Keep Source Data" option during the consolidation process, it means that the original source data will be retained in addition to being consolidated into the SAP system. In other words, a copy of the source data is maintained alongside the consolidated data in SAP.
  • This option is often chosen when you need to keep a historical record of the original data for auditing purposes, or if there's a need to refer back to the source data at a later time.
  • It can result in a larger storage footprint because both the source and consolidated data are stored.

2. Delete source data:

  • When you choose the "Delete Source Data" option, it means that after the data is successfully consolidated into the SAP system, the original source data is deleted or removed from the source systems or files.
  • This option is typically selected when you no longer need to maintain the source data separately and want to reduce storage requirements.
  • Be cautious when choosing this option, as it can lead to data loss if not handled carefully, and it may not be suitable for scenarios where you need to maintain an audit trail or historical record of the source data.

Lakshmi.
