Configuration Validation alternative for Cloud?

Hello,

We are moving from SAP Solution manager 7.2 into SAP Cloud ALM. At this moment we also make use of Configuration Validation based upon the SAP Security Baseline Template.

I haven't found such functionality in the SAP Cloud ALM or the SAP Cloud environment. But maybe I haven't seen all documentation yet.

Is there a alternative for Configuration Validation based upon the SAP Security Baseline Template for hybrid solutions?

Hallo Frans,

this ConfVal functionality is (at the moment) not available in CALM.
It makes no real sense from product management point of view (my personal interpretation):

• CALM is supporting mainly cloud solutions - here you will see in the future a feature like CBC (central business configuration - own tenant for the customization) and the security part is covered by the plattform teams.
• Otherwise Solman is mainly supporting on Prem Suites, therefore the responsibility is on the customer/hoster-side, to get secure, stable through the changes, with reporting, audit conformity, ... the whole IT-management stuff.

Yes the application LIFECYCLE management is different - therefore the tools too

I congratulate you on using the ConfVal - I guess many customers don't know the feature (in detail). As long as you have on-prem systems, I would recommend you not to risk your high degree of maturity in IT processes and reporting, but to use both function sets (SM vs. CALM) as hybrid ALM/IT management platforms and a best of-SAP ALM.

• good question! I also haven't seen 'Configuration Validation'-like functionality in CALM (yet).
• in FRUN you can already find similar functionality under Configuration & Security Analysis.
• however, that would mean that, in the inevitable hybrid situation every longtime using SAP customers will likely end up during their transition from SolMan 7.2 to CALM, you would also need to have a 3rd ALM-tool in place.....

This morning as I was starting up our CALM, to my surprise, I discovered a new tile, which I am pretty sure wasn't there before!

Anyway, Configuration & Security Analysis tile is now also available in CALM.

I believe this is CALM's version of Configuration Validation as we know it from SAP Solution Manager 7.2.

Will need to investigate this further...
