Hello Everyone,
I need to take the CMS Database backup but not able to get how can I do this. After searching allot I found that I have to take the database dump using its client component and also to take the backup of Filestore folder.
But the thing with me is that I have not installed the BO and I don't know which database has been used for CMS, is there a way I can confirm this?
I am able to access the CMC, in Settings I am able to get the Database Name and Username that is "5.0.34-enterprise-nt" & "sa", but which database is used is not mentioned anywhere.
After knowing the database one more thing is that how will I take the dump of it, because there's no database client installed in my machine, do I need to install the database client in my machine to take the dump?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Tauceef

Hi Tauceef,
In CMC Settings page you could also see Datasoruce name, with the help of which you can easily findout which database is being used. Otherwise paste the screenshot of CMC Settings page here.

Hi Tauceef,
You are using default MySQL database, following KB articles may help you with the backup and restore process.
1202202 - How to create MySQL database backups or .dmp files for BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 (Although its meant for XI R2 but applicable for 3.1 as well just the database name would be different)
1203308 - How to restore a MySQL Database backup of the CMS Repository
Hope this helps.

If you do not know which database it is even after seeing its name - then there is nothing we can do to help.
Your DBA needs to get involved and advice you which DB is used and how to make DB backups, as it is a trivial DBA routine.

Hi Denis,
Thanks for the reply.
One more thing I want to share is when I search the database name "5.0.34-enterprise-nt" in google it seems to be MYSQL but I am not confirm.
Let's say If I assume that its in MYSQL only, then please let me know how can I go ahead.
In my machine I don't have MYSQL installed, do I need to install MYSQL to take the dump of CMS?
or if you can suggest any other means of doing this.

Tauceef
