Cloud Platform Integration API Management

Dear Experts,

I am very new to CPI API Management. We want to build a scenario using APIs. Will you please help how to build using ODATA. Please help with a sample scenario to understand from scratch and what kind of authentication is feasible ( Basic or Certificate based ) to achieve this requirement.

Hi Raviteja

One important thing to understand right off the bat, is that API Management manages APIs provided by other systems. Those other systems can be on-premise (like S/4HANA, SAP PI, SAP Gateway etc.) or in the cloud (like e.g. SAP Cloud Platform, SuccessFactors and S/4HANA Cloud).

APIs can be exposed to the outside world without API Management, for sure, but if you place API Management in front of your API, you get a lot of benefits like real-time analytics, monetisation options, improved security, protection from e.g. DDOS attacks and non-malicious spikes, mediation functionality, a streamlined developer portal cataloging the available APIs and much more.
