Hi Experts,

I am doing a small change in BI 7.0 BEx analyzer for the variable on 0FISCPER.

Due to a wrong setting, there are no values displayed (Earlier they were displayed) now in the variant screen and when I try to change the variable in the query, it gives an RFC error and Bex get's closed.

Help me please. Points assured.

Thanks,

Raj.

Raj,

Please give more details :

"I am doing a small change" - what is this 'change' you are trying to do ?

"Due to a wrong setting" - what is this setting you are talking about?

Please do understand that we do not have access to your system - we have to look at your post and see how best we can help - please make your post as descriptive as possible in order to get your queries / questions resolved earlier...

Hi Arun

Thanks for your suggestions. Now let me elaborate.

Recently we upgraded all the reports to BI 7.0. After upgrade, we noticed that the 0FISCPER (Fiscal Year Period) combo box in the variant screen doesn't show the history of values entered unlike the other characteristics.

Why is this so?!

Well, Trying to figure out where the exact problem is, we went to the variable sequence tab in the query properties window, double clicked on the variable and tried different settings. During that time Bex browser gave an RFC error and Bex got closed.

Next time when I open any report that has the FISCPER, the drop down box doesn't show any values but give an empty dialog box saying "System returned with an error message" to the surprise no error message on that dialog box.

The problem is due to wrong settings in the variable for FISCPER and whenever we try to reset back (i.e try to change the variable) we always got ended up with RFC error and Bex getting closed.

FYI, we had the latest plugin installed too.

Thanks you. Any help?

Raj.

Raj,

thanks for the update....

Try opening the query in RSRT - and see if the error replicates there as well...

Also did you open the queries in BEx 7.0 or 3.x ??

Hi Arun,

The error doesn't get replicated in RSRT. Which means I can see the values for 0FISCPER (unlike in the Bex Report)

FYI, We are opening the Queries in BI 7.0. Not 3.x

Thanks,

Raj.

I guess may be the variable is corrupt. Because the error occured when we were trying different settings to get the values from.

Now my question is - is there any way in BI 7.0 to change the variable in BI environment? Not in the Bex Query Designer.

Thanks again.

Raj.
