HI,

Object oriented approach to model Business entities and business processes.

Can be used in Business workflows.

Some special methods, called BAPIs, on these objects can also be called from external programs.

BOR : The Business Object Repository contains the SAP business object types and SAP interface types as well as their components, such as methods, attributes and events.

BO Builder: is the tool for defining, implementing and testing object types as well as interface types.

WRT Business Objects in different industries, the links given previously are good starting points. One emerging market that we are seeing is in Voice of the Customer applications - being able to mine comments in CRM systems, in forums like this one, etc., to see what the "hot button" issues are and how those issues have (or have not) evolved over time.

Other popular uses for Business Objects includes reporting on sales trends and figures (to answer questions like "where are pink sweaters selling the best?"), financial reporting, etc.
