ASCS instnace with ECC distributed system

Hi Experts ,

I am installing ECC  EHP 6/ ERP6 with Netweaver 7.0/ EHP3 on Oracle 11.2 / AIX 6.1  in a distributed environment ( DB  and CI nodes, no HA ) , just wondering, do I need to install separate ASCS instance ? Is there any benefit doing that?

Again , if I choose to  have separate ASCS , do I have the option ( ASCS ) to install distributed environment with sapinst  with media of  Netweaver 7.0 / EHP3 media ?

Hi Mamum,

If you are going for Distributed installation, you do not need to install ASCS. In distributed environment, only DB and CI are installed and on different machines/VMs.

ASCS is only required in HA environment which consists of Message Server and Enqueue.

In Distributed, CI only consists of Message Server, Enqueue and Dispatcher. So no need of separate ASCS.

You do not have any option of installing separate ASCS in Distributed System Installation.
