Hi all DS Gurus,
We were tasked to create a Top 5 error Chart which was pretty easy at the beginning since we just had to create an ITD ranking.
But then we added another requirement to be able to filter it by time periods which will be driven by Months & Years.
And from my understanding of Design Studio, in order to have a dimension opened to filter on its data, you'd need to drag the field into Query Panel first within the datasource. So I have added the Month & Year fields into data source and previewed it in the Initial View. The first thing I noticed is that Measure(Total Errors) was not populating, I tried adding Year and same thing happened, the Measure does not populate until I finally added Months which added a lot more rows to my chart by default, when I click OK and convert it to chart.. it created categories on errors by months instead of just 5 errors like above
I also tried hiding the "member display"(No Display) to hide the columns but row count doesn't change or aggregate, the chart would also reflect on it creating categories for errors in "no display"...
I would like to see if anyone can help on this so I can aggregate and display it with only 5 categories like the last pie chart on above pic and have the ability to filter on months/years.
Thanks so much for all your help!
-Randy

I'm not sure I have any answers for you - but to clarify, is a BEx query your datasource? Which version of Design Studio are you using? How does the query look when you use Analysis Office or run it in the Query Designer?
In week 3 of the BW on HANA course they cover topics like aggregations, etc.

UGH.. I found the issue and had resolved this problem while gathering some info for your question. I am annoyed with myself but at the same time really happy to resolve this with your help/response!
Thank you Tammy for your response!
So to not waste my gathering effort, here was my answer:
We are using DS 1.3 using Universes as our datasource.
Resolution:
In a normal Webi setting, webi does automatically aggregrates with measures on the result page "if" in the business layer of universe you set the Projection Function of a field to "Sum".
Once I applied it aggregated automatically for me.
Tammy without your response I wouldn't look at the issue in that level. thanks again!
