Difference Between info source and data source

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me the major diff between infosource and datasource and is it necessary for infosource and datasource to be present in BI7 ??

Hi Apeetha,

Data source which shows the table schema( set of fields) that to transfer to SAP BI/BW. Where in BI, we will replicate the Data source once it is created in R/3.

Infosource which shows the combination of inoobjects used for joining two tansformations.

The Data source and infosource both doesn't store any data.

In BI 7, The use of Infosource is not mandatary but in BW 3.5 the infosource is mandatory.
