Hello Experts,

I am facing issue with Blank Compression while Using user Defined Text as shown in the below example (Image 1)

image-1.jpg

The output of the above condition is shown below (Image 2)

image-2.jpg

Steps that i have performed :-

  • I maintained the values for characteristics, complement and user defined text in specification and I did not maintain any value for Description,
  • Here it is showing white space with the paragraph symbol. so, my requirement is to remove the white space by implementing the blank compression.

Kindly Suggest,

Hello

you mix topics. Unneeded "Spaces" or "unneeded carriage returns" in WWI reports are "normal" issues in WWI layouting. You will find many similar threads here. "Blank compression" is used for something different (normally).

The handling of "unneeded spaces" and "unneeded cariage return" might be tricky in WWI layouting; but in most cases solution can be obtained with out using "Blank compression".

You screen shot is showing three pieces of WWI code in the text box. I can not judge: is this all or more to show?

Blank compression is used (in many cases) to avoid the printing of "header phrase texts" if there is no e.g. "phrase" maintained.

PLease check blog as "WWI for beginners" and "WWi for experts". You will find lot of threads discussing "blank compression" and more than 5 threads are discussing handling of "unneeded spaces" and/or unneeded carriage returns

C.B.

PS: Check the used "carriage returns" in your WWI layout; some "carriage returns" as needed for WWI layouting and some are used to get a "real" carriage return. Sometimes not easy to handle the difference and one of the "top 5" issues in WWI layouting
