Can anybody give me clear picture of difference between defining and activating document types for

1. Transit Procedure AND

2. Customs Processing

Where and when they will be used

Hi,

Transit procedure is a part of customs procedure. The transit procedure can take place before or after customs processing. Apart from transit, customs procedure handles the customs processing i.e. customs declarations and other treatments like release for free circulation, customs warehousing, outward and inward processing, processing under customs control, temporary admission, and exportation.

Transit procedure is basically a procedure during which customs goods are transported through the customs territory or from one place to another place in the customs territory. The procedure starts at the office of dispatch on the ground of a transit declaration and is concluded at the office of destination by placing the goods under another customs procedure. It is also useful for goods that are not intended to remain in a specific customs territory, but instead are only passing through.

In Customs Processing SAP GTS lets you handle customs declarations and administrative files by exchanging electronic messages with the customs authorities, as well as printing out the necessary forms.

And in transit procedure it allows you to shift customs handling to the external border to an inland location.
