Hi All,
What is the procedure to create User defined fields.
Can any one let me know with the steps after creating UDF how can we link i want to create UDF in Item groups.
Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
Do you mean to link the UDF to a user defined table ?
Rgds,
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Sandy,
The naming for the UDF need not be UDF_ It can be any name appropriate.
Also linking a User table to a UDF is option and will depend on what you want to do with the UDF.
Most situations the UDF's are created without a link but again if you explain your business case it will be easy to identify what you might need.
Best wishes

First of all you have to make sure that you are the only person in the system, because you are effectively changing the database for all users in your company.
tools -> user defined fields -> manage user fields.
if you are adding a UDF in Purchase Orders/Sales Orders/Invoices you choose Marketing Documents, otherwise it's likely to be Master Data.
In your case, if you are sure you want to add to Item Groups, just make sure item groups is highlighted in yellow, then click Add. Remember that the Title should be coded and the Description is what appears on screen. eg DateCert -
Date of QA Certificate. the rest is quite self explanatory.
I would recommend you try it out on your test system first

Hi,
Sorry I didn't get you what you are saying.
The Title should be coded what it means.
Ok let me assume that I have created the user defined field by selecting the Item group from master data it is highlighted in yellow and I has selected add button and given the title as Seamless and the description as Seamless and clicked on add.
Next I have selected the defined field and selected the usertable here what is the table name should i has to give.
And has to linkup the UDF to table.
Sandy,
Please explain your business requirement rather than asking steps on how to define fields and how to link fields. Since there explanation are very much available in the documentation. If there is a business case for which you need help then this would be a good place for it.
