Hi all,

Currently our client is using ECC-5.0.

profit center and segment functionality is using for getting reports.

What is segment?

How we can use segment in sap?

can we take any report as segment wise?

Please let me know

Hello Venu,

Segments are used to meet the reporting requirements of the international accounting principles like IAS, IFRS, US GAAP. Segment can be considered as business or geographic segment of an enterprise.

Segment is assigned in Profit center master data and they in turn are assigned to cost centers.

You have to assign your company code to ledgers and these ledgers are to be assigned with the scenario "FIN_SEGM". When u post any cost or revenue to the cost centers, profit center is derived from cost center and segment is determined from profit center and this way both profit center and segment are posted.

Thanks for your immediate reply.

Currently i am facing one issue in the PGI document

We've a limitation in FI with the line item number can only store up to maximum 999 items. When we do a PGI or we invoice a billing document, a FI document needs to be generated, but SAP errors out with Maximum number of lines reached... Summarization of the line items via config is not an option, checked OSS notes and haven't found any solution. Is there something we can achieve via config or any custom enhancement is required to develop? If so, how the integration processes can be checked?

can we summarize fil line items as segment wise?
