Hi,

Is it possible to define material master in Main Group, Sub Group, Sub-Subgroup and Text with differnt number ranges

Yes, it is possible to define material master in Main Group, Sub Group, Sub-Subgroup and Text with different number ranges as follows.

Material codification :

Main Group - 001(999)

Subgroup - 001(999)

Sub-Subgroup - 0001(9999)

Main Group (03 Digits)

Sub Group (03 Digits)

Individual Item (04 Digits) -sub-subgroup

Total = 10 Digit Code of material code.

Main Group as follows. - 3 Digit

Raw Materials

Mechanical

Electrical

Civil

Instrumentation etc.

Sub Group as follows.- 3 digit

Iron & Steel

Cables

Motors

Pumps

Valves

Boilers

Turbines

Pipes & Fittings etc

Sub-Subgroup(individual item) - 4 digit

MS Plate IS 2062 8mm Thk

Cable Tray Perforated 300mm x 50mm x 2mm Thk

MS Pipe Seamless A106 50 NB x Sch.40

Cables XLPE 3 Core x 300 Sqmm

Ball Valve Flanged SS 304 50 NB

Centrifugal Pump CI 50 Cum/hr x 30 MWC

Cement OPC 43 etc.

Three Digits will cover 999 Sub-Groups on each Main category of items. With 03 Digit Main Groups and 03 Digit Sub Groups will cover 9.98 Lakhs Groups.

Each main groups, we have assigned separate number ranges also.
