Hi,
I would like to create a new class type in the material master but at MARC or MARD level, I would like to classify materials by Plant.
I already did some configuration in SPRO Classification system>Classes>Maintain object types & Class types
- object table selected: MARC
- new class type created
I'm not sure about the rest of the configuration, can someone help me in that?
Anna.
Request clarification before answering.
Anna,
Were you able to get answer to your question? I have the same question where I want to create one class and link several characteristics to it at a plant level. The solution that Craig provided would require a ton of maintenance for plant values, when MM data is already at the plant level (MARC table). I tried to configure MARC object but it does not let me tie it to MATERIAL object id. That is only available for MARA.
Can anyone please confirm this?
Thanks,
Ashvin

Why not flip the logic around?
Create the characteristic with multiple values. Your characteristic would be:
Name: SECURITY_PART
Description: Identifies plants where part is a security part
Your values would then be those plants where this is true..
Part 1 might have values of 0001, 0003
Part 2 might have value of 0002.
Any developments would look up the values for SECURITY_PART and see if the plant of interest is a value. If it is, it's a security part. If not, it's not.

If your characteristics in material class 001 have different values from plant to plant then are they really the same material?
If you need to, you can create multiple characteristics.
Security_Spare_part_0001
Security_Spare_part_0002.
Edit any developments and have them append on the plant number to find the relevant value for their plant.
If you are batch managed, you could set up one characteristic in the 023 or 022 batch class and default in a value based on the plant.

Hi Craig,
Yes, they are same material even have different values by plant.
Let me explain more detail about I want/need.
Material : 1
Classification View at Material master data:
Class_plant_0001
Security_Spare_part : no
Class_plant_002
Security_Spare_part : yes
Class_plant_003
Security_Spare_part : yes
But my intention is to be able to create only 1 Class and use same class under by plant:
Material : 1
Classification view under Plant 0001 at material master data:
Class_0001
Security_Spare_part:no
Classification view under Plant 0002 at material master data:
Class_0001
Security_Spare_part:no
Classification view under Plant 0003 at material master data:
Class_0001
Security_Spare_part:no
Is it more clear now?
Anna.
Hi,
It sounds like you are having customized material master data and classification view is one of the view in material master class and character can be kept in either classification view, Basic data 2 and mrp3, why do you want to keepin plant view. I am unable to understand and I wanted to understand that are you using batch classification?

Hi,
Why are you creating Class type for release procedure or VC? If you want to classify the material when creating itself it will be differed plant to plant? What you are trying to d oexcatly?

Hi,
What I want to do is to classify the material by plant, and have a classification view under Plant view, now what I have is a classification view under General view .
Example:
material 1 at plant 001 -> value 'no' for characteristic named 'Security spare part'
same material 1 at plant 002 -> value 'yes' for same characteristic 'Security spare part'

Anna
