Hi,

I am new to SAP... I would like to know wat is a material document and how 2 create it....

Hi anandaraja,

Welcome to SDN.

1. As the name suggests,

whenver there is a transaction

related to any MATERIAL / GOODS,

we need to record this in the system.

eg. goods receipt

goods issue

goods return

etc.

2. To record this in the system,

we do data entry thru standard transactions,

and a record is created.

3. This record is called as

'MATERIAL DOCUMENT'

4. It consists all the details related to

that transaction of goods movement.

a. material code

b. movement type (return, issue,scrapped etc)

c. date of document

d. date of entry

e. etc.

5. It is just similar to Accounting document.

(accounting document is related to

different g/l accounts,

in similar fashion,

material document is related to

different material codes and their various movements)

Hi!

A material document contains one or more items and can be printed as a slip to accompany physical goods movements (Good Receipt/Goods Issue slip).

Amaterial document is generated whenever there is physical movement of goods.

Hi

When ever there is a movements of goods. Like goods receipt or goods isssue or if there is a stock trnafer, where ever there is a physical movements of goods a material document is generated.

Each movement will be assigned to a movement type.
