Scenario:

A company procures different metals as raw material for production.

Metals include Copper, Brass, Silver.

Within Copper there are 3 grades: G1, G2 & G3

In Brass & Silver also there are 4 grades each.

If I want to get the report of price & quantity of Copper of grade G1 in Plant/storage Location, then how shall I define/classify the materials (in Material types, material groups etc) so that I get the desired report.

Hi VS,

For your case u need to create a material types (such a ROH) for copper. Then for each grade u can have them assigned to valn class such as 3000, 3001 and 3002. This will help in capturing price and qty of copper in your plant.

Hope this helps.

Reward if u find this info useful.

I classify it as follows:

Material Type: Raw material

Material group: Metals

???????: Grades of respective metals.

How will I capture/distingush the grades?

Hi Vs,

This is possible by split valuation. You can have seperate valuation class based on quality (grade in your case).

Hope this helps.

Hi VS

1) Activate the split valuation via Transaction OMW0; and

2) Configure split valuation (for valuation category) via Transaction OMWC.

Make sure that you should set up your own valuation types for the 'Account Category Reference' which was assigned to your material type via Transaction OMS2.
