Dear All,

if i want to Forcast for 6 months

in which t-code i should give 6 months values

Dear,

Maintain the MRP type as forecasting in material master & maintain the forecasting view in material master for the same .

There should be histrorical consumption date for forecasting for the material

1. Maintain Forecasting view in material master and enter the historical data and forecasting period within the Forecasting view.

2.Maintain MRP type VV in MRP-1 view

3. Carry out MRP in transaction MP30 for Individual material and MP38 for totsal Forecast at Plant level. The procurement proposals will be generated

Basically we are going with MRP type Y2, for some materials & YD for some materials

so only for this materails i.e Y2 & YD MRP type we are going with Forecasting modle W

Dear,

MRP type Y2 & YD are not the SAP standard mrp type please check in OMI4.

If you use the customized mrp type no problem steps will remain same.

MRP Y2 & YD planning works based on the consumption (withdrawal) of components not on the requirements.

So there will be requirements creation for the part MRP type check the consumption history in material master.

Dear,

Forecast use the consumption value from material master it will not consider the other requirement like sales As your MRP types are costimized so please check the setting with VV and Y2 , YD in OMI4

in Forecasting will be on the consumption value excute forcast.

For Y2

Forecast ind. - * ( optional forecast )

Consumption ind. forecast - G ( total consuption )

For YD

Forecast ind. - + ( obligatory forcast )

Consumption ind. forecast - G ( total consumption )

Plz let me kow how system will calculate in both the cases

Hi,

Refer to the below link with your abaper. The code is for uploading 12 periods, so you might want to consider only 6 periods:

My point is in genral in SAP

we mainatin Forecasting view, then we can give forecast values in MP30 for 6 periods

then copy it to demand management in MD70

if my understanding is correct or what is the flow ( Our forecast modle is W )

Hi,

In terms of how to do it in the system you've got it right, but from a business point of view, forecasting is one of the key aspects. So unless there is an in-depth understanding of the business & proper interpretation & impelementation, a forecast calculation done by the system can lead to false results. I have come across & read several cases where forecasting has got it wrong. So exercise caution while working with it if you've not done it already.

Dear,

Yes right, in the material master forecast view, you have History periods No of Periods to be considered as Historyand Forecast period No of periods for which Forecast is to be calcualated are maintained also Fixed period field. which will control for how many periods forecast should not be changed.

Go to MP81 enter your Forecast profiles PBA2 then go to selection and change Number of forecast periods as you want.

Forecast values are transferred to the demand management (Transaction MD70 or report RM60FORC) with the forecast periods being defined according to a fiscal year variant (period indicator 'P').

Hi Madhu,

Would you be able to explain the MRP code Y2 in detail to me? (Including an example if possible).

I take it from reading the post, a planned order is triggered by consumption (actual demand) not forecast?

Does MRP use the SS as a trigger or the ROP?  And if you have both loaded which would it trigger off of?
