Equivalent Material Code

Hi All,

We have one requirement as follows.

Technically materials are same. But it has different code and descriptions. When we check the material system should show other material in stock.

Example:

We have material X, Y Z

These materials are technically same specification. But It has different material codes.

When we check Material X in system, if not in stock, immediately system should show other stock Y & Z material if stock available.

how do we do in standard configuration?

we dont have material determination process in the MM point of view, i will explain my experience in the hospital industry, there they have different material code with same generic name.

e.g take one medicine material code as  Crocin its generic name is "paracetamol", in same way we have another two three different material codes ( stepstils  etc) but its generic name is " paracetamol" in your case same specification raw material are different and core component is same just like paracetamol in above example

to over come this option we have taken a basic data in basic data 2 tab and created one category as " paracemtol" as generic name, in your case create accordingly and assign that in the basic data 2 tab in basic data section.

to get the stock accordingly we need to create a zreport based on the basic materials to get the details.

Follow the screen short to create basic data field options.
