Equivalent Material Code

Hi All,

We have one requirement as follows.

Technically materials are same. But it has different code and descriptions. When we check the material system should show other material in stock.

Example:

We have material X, Y Z

These materials are technically same specification. But It has different material codes.

When we check Material X in system, if not in stock, immediately system should show other stock Y & Z material if stock available.

how do we do in standard configuration?

What is the reason for having 3 material codes for the same specification? Can't you just delete 2 and continue with 1?

Hi,

We are purchasing three material different vendors in market. But all three materials are having technically same. only difference is Material code. Specification also different.

While consuming from stock, If A material is not available, system should show alternative material stock if available for example B or C material.

During running business, manually we can select If A is not in stock, we can go for B material.

Similar way SAP should act in system.

For this, how do we configure or any customize programme?

Still I do not see that you gave a valid reason for having 3 different material masters in your system

I will explain more details.

We have three material in our master data.

Raw material 1 & Raw material 2 & Raw material 3

This three materials are having different numbers. But we can use alternatively any one of them. For example, Production department need Raw material 1, but it does not have stock. same time, Raw material 2 & Raw material 3 are having stock also we can utilize this material also for production.

This is our requirement, where system should show alternative stock.

Hope you understand why we are using 3 different materials in master data.

Just I had given example three materials. It might be 2 or 4 also.

You are just repeating your current situation but you do not explain why you need to have 3 material numbers. Why is it important for you to have 3 individual material numbers, what does this do for you?

Thanks for your reply.

For safer side we are having 3 materials. If A is not available we can go for B & C.

So production will not be having any issue. Business will run smoothly.

Therefore, we are having 3 materials in our master data.
