Hi
Industry sector and material type controls the screen sequence in material master
e.g. if u have service item it does not requires inventory /storage/warehouse information . where as for finished product u require these datas.
These acn be controlled in IMG -->Logistics general -->Material master --.basic settings
Pls refer below
Define whether a field is hidden or displayed, or whether an entry is mandatory or optional in material master maintenance by assigning the field to a field selection group in OMSR.
Each field selection group has a number between 1 and 240.
The values of the field selection groups have been preassigned as follows:
001-110 Material master for industry
111-120 Reserved for customers (except where the values are already in use)
121-150 Material master for industry
151-210 Material master for retail
211-240 Reserved for customers
Create and maintain field references (OMS9).
All the fields in the same fields group will have the same field selection option.
(hide, display, required entry, or optional entry)
You can see where a field reference is used by choosing Where-used list.
Define or change the field references as required (except for field references with the prefix SAP which must not be changed). New field references must begin with Y or Z.
Changing the Field Selection Options for a Field Selection Group
1. Specify the field selection group .
2. Select the field selection option (hide, display, required entry, or optional entry)
for each field reference as required.
3. Save.
Creating a Field Reference

Hello Bhavesh,

Material Type:
Material types are Customized in Materials Management using transaction code OMS2.
You assign every material to a material type when you create it. Examples of material types in the standard system include raw materials, operating supplies, finished products, semi-finished goods, configurable material etc.
The material type controls the properties of a material and which data must be maintained for the material. The following control features are important for valuation:
Is the material managed by quantity?
Is the material managed by value?
Which price control type may be used for the material?
Which valuation class can the material be assigned to?

There are different types like
ROH - Raw materials
HALB - Semifinished
FERT - Finished
HAWA - Trading Goods
ERSA - Spare Parts
KMAT - Configurable material
The above are only some examples, Depending on the material type the views in the materail master differ.
For all the internal manufactured materials (FERT, HALB) views like Work Scheduling is additional view in compared to the external procured materials (ROH...) which does not have the above view.
Please go thru the help documentation on the material types, which has the clear description of the material types and views in the material types.
Hope this helps you.
