Hi All,
The issue in Data Migration is, in system already employees are there, now we want to overwrite the existing data with the new data.
The problem is when we are uploading the data it is not allowing us to change the hire date. throwing error -Don't enter a personnel action for the date of hiring/transfer.
For this we have changed the hire date to the next day. is this approach is correct or is there other way to deal with this.

Sonu

Hi Sonu,
as you said this is new implementation. are u executine data migration for pa40?
if this is you can use one more action Called Data conversion. which is used to overwrite all the records, if you really want to change the hire date you can use PA41to change the hire date.
In my view
In Data Migration hire date would have the actual Hire Date and tge Data Converion would be the start date of the Organization in the SAP system.
I think you some Idea on this.
reward me if you got any idea....
Cheers,
Vasu.

I agree to Taj, this approach will cause all sorts of problem. Also note that RPUDELPN will not work in production system. Moreover it deletes all employee related data like payroll results etc., so re-think your approach.

Can you confirm the following:
1. The system into which you migrated the data, is it a production system?
2. Whatever the system is, have you run a payroll and posted the results to FI/CO?
3. Howmany records have the wrong hiredate
4. Howmany records are there is total within the payroll area(s) you are processing?
The above should help determine the next course of action
I can think of three options on the basis that you have not run the payroll yet:
1. You can change the hire date via PA30/Utilities/change entry leaving date. This can be automated using LSMW if you have a lot of entries to change.
2. The cleanest way would be to delete the employee records and start again - this can be done via PA30/Utilities/Delete personnel number. This can be automated using LSMW if you have a lot of entries to change.
3. If you are not going to do any of the above and you try to overwrite the date (in effect you are create a new entry per infotype).....you will have to perform adjustments in Payroll as the orginal hire date will be used to determine any pro-rating of pay.
Good luck with whatever option you choose
Hi,
The approach you have taken is likely to cause all sorts of data integrity problems......the best approach would be to remove the old data - try using program RPUDELPN and check the program information about the programs capabilities
