Kindly explain, what is the meaning of Basic material

Hi,

Basic material is the material of which the main material is made of for e.g. Iron, Wood, MS, etc...

You can define Basic Materials in SPRO > Logistics - General > Material Master > Settings for Key Fields > Define Basic Materials

And maintain in "Basic Data 2" view of Material master.

Basic Material means Basic constituent of the material with grade and standards i.e ( IS/ EN etc. WITH GRADES)

In which Basic Data1 & Basic Data2 is called Basic Material.

Which is maintain at client level. This two view is remain same for all plant but other view is changed for different plant as per required.

So it is called Basic Material.

You can use MM03 to view basic data against material..

The basic data contains following imp things..

1.UOM/AUM,

2.Material group

3,devision

4.external material group

5.Mfr part no.

which are the basics for any material..
