Hi Raja,
These are generic question... request you to serach in SAP SCN forum or SAP Help for this...you will get lot of materials on this.........

Hi Raja,
All the forum members explained nicely. Bit did you study regarding this earlier from SCN. Better if you study and come back with specific questions. It will always give you a better idea.
Check in SDN.
As well check the sites:: SAPFunctional.com - Let's share knowledge

Hi Raja,
Below are the simple answers to your questions:
1. What is Production Scheduling Profile ?
If we want to auto release the production order when its created, if we want to schedule order automatically on release then, we use this profile. Assignment of order types also done here. Please do refer to the link given by other forum members for further details. This profile needs to be assigned to material master record of that material.
2. What is float before production & float after production ?
Float before production is the workdays taken by the system to calculate the basic start date & basic finish date.
3. What is re-order point planning ?
It is a type of consumption based planning where the procurement proposals will be triggered automatically by the system when the stock of material falls below the reorder point level. There are two types in this : Manual & automatic
Manual : We have to enter manually the reorder point level.
Automatic : System will automatically calculate the reorder point level.
MRP types are different for both manual & automatic re-order point planning methods.
4. What is replenishment lead time ?
In case of in-house production, it is combination of in-house production time, GR processing time.
In case of external procurement, it is combination of planned delivery time & GR processing time.
5. What is order type ?
It is used to differentiate the different processes like MTS, MTO, Rework, Disassembly etc.
6. What is production type ?
It is the different production process like discrete, Repetitive, Process Industry, KANBAN etc.
Revert back for more clarification.

Kalyan

Hi Raja,
Here are some basic definitions in simple terms:
1) What is production scheduling profile
Some default settings for your production order. They are defined in customizing and assigned to material master.
2) What is float before production & float after production.
Days between basic start/finish date and the scheduled production start/finish date. They are added to anticipate things that can prevent the production to start, such as insufficient raw materials stock, etc.
3) What is re-order planning
Consumption-based material planning that makes the system create procurement proposal once the material is consumed up to a certain stock level. That stock level is called reorder point and is usually above its safety stock.
4) What is Replenishment lead time
Total time required to produce/procure a material (including production time, goods receipt processing time, floats, etc)
5) What is order type
Key that differentiates orders according to their purpose. The order type contains a range of parameters which affect the way the order is processed, such as: number range, how routing and BOM is selected for the order, what documentations should be recorded for the order, how the order cost will be settled, etc. Typical order types could be: normal, rework, test, etc.
6) What is production type
Method of of production based on its complexity, frequency, and stability of production process. Common production types: discrete manufacturing, process manufacturing, repetitive manufacturing, KANBAN, etc.

1)What is production scheduling profile
Production scheduling profile control the Production Order :
1) Automatic release of production order
2)automatic GR
3)Automatic batch creation during production order creation or release etc
2)What is float before production & float after production.
Since malfunctions and other disturbances in the production process can never be fully prevented, the system carries out scheduling using a float before and a float after production.
The float before production has the following two functions in the order:
The float after production is used in the order to compensate for unexpected interruptions in the production process. It prevents a delay of the scheduled finish.
3)what is re-order planning
In the case of Manual Reorder Point Planning (MRP Type VB), when the Plant stock & firmed receipts(firm planned order, firm purchase requisition, prod order etc) for a given material fall below reorder point, the planning for the material is triggered (a planning file entry is created). For this to happen, you would have to enter the Reorder level manually in MRP 1 view of the material master (as in the case of manual Reorder Point Planning) or the reorder point can be automatically calculated by the system (as in automatic Reorder point planning).
4))what is Replenishment lead time.
Total time for the in-house production or for the external procurement of a product. In in-house production, the replenishment lead time is determined to cover all BOM levels.
5)What is order type.
Order: Object that defines
-When, where and in which quantities which products are required or available
-Which work steps are necessary for these products and which resources are occupied by them
Order Type:
Key that differentiates orders according to their purpose. The order type contains a range of parameters which affect the way the order is processed. For example, using the order type, we can specify
-The number ranges to be used for the orders
-Which criteria are used when selecting a routing
-How the order is to be costed.
6)What is production type.
Different types of Production Type:
1) Discrete Manufacturing 2)Process Industry 3) Continuous manufacturing(Repetitive Manufacturing) 4) Engineer to order 5) Kanban

Hi Raja,
I would suggest to go through below link other than sap help to clear your concepts of SAP PP:

Hello Raja,
For all these basic queries you need to go through SAP help, SCN & google first.
Even at the time of configuration for all the above things system gives you nice explanation along with the transaction (you need to click on the info icon beside the menu path).
Try it out & raise query only if you are stuck.
