Hello bolivs22
SYNCHRON = X means that updates will be posted synchronously, not with update tasks. See SAP Help on the details of both modes Synchronous and Asynchronous Updates
Synchronous updates are implemented here with SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL statement.
UPDATE_PICKING = X activates update of picking data and status of the outbound delivery.
See the blog Delivery Picking, Packing, Unpacking, Goods Issue. on various use cases of WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE
Best regards

bolivs22 I'm not aware of a document detailing all parameters of WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE. The function is not released for customer usage by SAP. Therefore it is not documented. If I need to use the function and don't know why, I'm looking for blogs, Q&A for my specific use case. I'd suggest the same approach - search Google for WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE.
