hi i have various request of same abap prog.....

my requirment is to display the program of a particular request and execute it presently some version is active..can anybody plz let me kknow how should i go about executing my request ..can any body throw some light on the version management ...

as to wat is modif ,active etc how shud i execute etc...

You cannot execute a previous version.

Instead copy the previous version to a temp program and execute.

Versions are the different stages of a program for which the modifications are done..

once a request is transported to next box(quality) and if you want to change the program again,then we will have to create another request..

now if you want to get back the version of the program which was there before the mofdidifcations,you can get the same by making the particluar version as active.

you will have the buttons Retrive by selecting one version and click on it,you will get the older version.

and You can Compare the programs between different versions..

Hi,

If you are seriously looking for executing the previous versions of the program and if you have transport requests for all the changes of the program. Then you can revert back the older version by choosing the previous version, so that older version of the program will replace the active version. Once you replaced you can execute the program and do the same for all older versions. Finally you can revert back to the recent version.

ur active version is the version that is currently execultable, if select any previous version and press retrieve it will be shown as modif and now u select the modif and retrieve ur previous version will open and then u can activate and execute, if u want to retrieve ur earlier active version back u can go back to it as a temporary version would have been create while retrieving old versions if u are executing all previous version be careful to remember which was ur original active version so that at last u can replace it as it was.
