User Enhancements

Hi all,

Iam using SAp release 4.07.Would like to know somethings about userExits.I would be required to enhance current functionality under sales and distribution.

Would be nice if someone could put some light into the following questions.

[1]

The "UserExits" are predefined in SAP systems at some points,Is that a right statement?

If So,How to find "UserExits" which will be useful for me.

For Example:-,If I have to change something in the sales order creation, delivery or at invoice level. How will I find the userexits and their documentation.

[2]

If,suppose I doesnt find any UserExits which satisfy my needs,Is it possible for me to define userExits on my own.How can I do that(Iam asking this because with my current understanding I think that userExits are predefined by SAP at points and we can only use that).

A userGuide to how-to-develop UserExits will be useful.

[3]

BADI's - are they also predefined by SAP at some code points or can we have to define them whenever we need them and wherever we want?

How to find the predefined BADI's,if they exist.

A userGuide to how-to-develop BADIS will be useful.

[4]

As I said before,Iam using SAP release 4.7.When should I use a BADI and when a userExit.

Can I fulfill my needs only by using the userExits.

[5]

menu exit, field exit, and screen exits -When are they used and for what purpose...

Waiting for a response

Regards

P

Hi,

im sorry to say..! don post a challenging queries in the post... if it so then some body may not respond to u..!

thn u may not get the exact info..!

anyway..!

1. Check out for the development package fr the program/ transaction to which u need to find an exit in Tcode SE93..

with tht package goto SMOD and thr u can find the enhancements..!

based upon tht choose the match which suits fr ur requirement..!

2.U r not suppose to create ur own exits..!

the name it self indicates tht it is an exit.. so u hav to abide the rules of SAP n u can create on which SAP provides...

choose Documentation radio button on the SMOD fr a particular enhancement, thn u can get the implementation idea basedd on it..!

and to ur questions finally first go thru some stuff on Exits, thn u never face a prob..!

regards,

Sasi Kanth.

Hi

1 - 2

SD module is very dynamic and you can enhance many things using out of standard user exit MV45AFZZ. Check it from SE38.

Additionally using SMOD or CMOD transaction.

3- You can check existing BADI definitions using se18 AND you can implement them from tcode se19.

4- You can use BADI in 4.7 it is also often possible that one change you want to make can be done using BADI or exit.

5- Menu, Field, Exit are specific type of exit which can be used to add specific funtionality to an existing field menu or screen.

If you don't find any enhancement (user-exit, BADI) and business really needs the change you can modify SAP standard code which is called modification. Also after ECC 6.0 there is new enhancement concept called enhancement framework which allows you to change much more things in SAP standard without modification.

No need to say it is a little bit advanced subject and you need to analyse and test everyting very carefully.

Hi Gungor,

appreciate the reply.

1 question though.You said that

>>4- You can use BADI in 4.7 it is also often possible that one change you want to make can be done using BADI or exit

That means UserExits and BADi's are prefined by SAP(already provided by SAP ).we as a developer cant create a new one.Is that so to understand.

Also iF it is possible to use either BADi'S or exits from release 4.7,For each SAP defined userExit,do there must exist a corresponding BADI as well ?

Hi Pazzuzu,

Yes You can create a new one but to change custom developments you can't create a BADI to change SAP standards you are limited.

To change a standard code you can just implement a predefined BADI definition.

Also iF it is possible to use either BADi'S or exits from release 4.7,For each SAP defined userExit,do there must exist a corresponding BADI as well ?

No exit and badi independet from each other sometimes you can find both for same functionality but you need to choose and implement only one exit or BADI..
