Hi experts,

KIndly help.

Unable to edit existing text element.

Error:      Text elements contains error please correct them.

Info:     No update can be performed because the text pool being edited would then be inconsistent.

Since the exact cause of this inconsistency is uncertain, the transaction was terminated.

Same symbol is used more than once, symbol being GF0.

Do find the attached screenshot captured.

Thanks for the help

1) Is the text elements activated?

2) Whether those texts are translated to different languages? If so, then check whether the translations are done perfectly.

3) Go to Utilities --> Adjust --> Text symbols and do a adjust of it (Ctrl+shift+F7)

You need to run a clean up program to delete those inconsistent text elements.

Run transaction SLIN and give your program name. select some extra check boxes( character strings,

and also include suppressed errors). Execute it, you will be able to see inconsistent text elements.

Adjust text elements in utilities menu. Select 3rd radiobutton 'Text symbols defined repeatedly' and delete duplicates.

Thanks for your time and help

Well, yes that could be done but however we cant add it back in the existing way if we delete it.

Hence unable to delete.

Hi Sophia,

It's strange that report allowed to save two different texts under same symbol, usually you should get 'overwrite existing text number ' message while using same symbol for different text. Please check possibilities and another option to change text symbol;

1. The session might be already open some where in change mode.

2. You can give different name  like Text-GF01 in code level and after double clicking it should allow you to add new text so you can use the same. text with different symbol.

I hope it helps you.

Regards,

Nikhil

Please check the SAP notes. For instance, 113877 - Inconsistent text elements are not deleted ; etc.

Moreover, you didn't say whether it was a standard or custom program ; in case it's a standard program, you can't do it yourself (it's probably why the adjustment doesn't work), please raise a message at SAP support.

One more thing, every time you say "it's not working", please explain what you get exactly. We can't help you, if you don't give complete information.

Thank you for the help Sandra

Sure will do as suggested to raise SAP support request.

And, yeah i understand that help can be rendered only on proper explanation of the error and issue. However this issue was posted on behalf of a colleague of mine which is why i was unable to post the exact error messages. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I shall do my best.
