Translate statment in unicode system

hi,

we are going for upgrade, we have created one sandbox and perfomed the UCCHECK

we are getting one error message on below TRANSALTE statment like below.

convtab must be character type data object (data type C, N, D, T, or STRING)

FORM convert_codepage changing i_tbl type tabtyp_tbl.

DATA:

w_tbl TYPE rectyp_tbl.

LOOP AT i_tbl into w_tbl.

TRANSLATE w_tbl USING convtab.

MODIFY i_tbl from w_tbl.

ENDLOOP.

ENDFORM. "convert_codepage

please guide me in this issue.

Hi,

If you go through the F1 help for Translate, you will come to know that it works only on character type variables.

Your variable w_tbl may not be character type.

Write your code as below:

DATA: w_tbl TYPE rectyp_tbl,

var_char(50) TYPE C.

LOOP AT i_tbl into w_tbl.

var_char = w_tbl.

TRANSLATE w_tbl USING convtab.

MODIFY i_tbl from w_tbl.

ENDLOOP.

ENDFORM. "convert_codepage

This will work.
