Standard BAPI to make changes in the Database

Hi,

I am looking for the standard BAPI which helps to make changes in the database tables ie Bapi could be either for Material, Sales, Finance, Production.

My requirement is that the Bapi modify the database, could be anything delete,insert,edit etc.

Hi,

Actually SAP uses the analogy of objects. You should try transaction BAPI to find the different functions you need. You will find specific ones for create, modify and getlist and more.

Say i need a BAPI to edit material information ie the material no, mat desc, mat type etc and the changes should reflect in the System's Database.

help me with the standard bapi name.

You cannot change the master information, like material number, customer number, master material type etc which are the key fields. But you can change the non-key fields. There is no such standard BAPI which does all the functions. There are different BAPI's which does the required function.

Transaction BAPI has all the information related to the functional area. You can search the type of BAPI which are required. Explore more in this transaction and you will come to know more about the functions of each BAPI. There cannot be a single standard BAPI for all the functions in SAP.

Call transaction BAPI and navigate thru logistics and Material management, the BAPI respect name conventions, so look for BAPI with trailing CREATE, CHANGE, SAVEDATA, SAVEREPLICA. Also check version and release dates.
