SOFFICEINTEGRATION205 - Error occurred while reading object property

Hello ABAP-Dev-Community,

in our company we have a huge development infrastructure with different landscapes, so different development systems. Now I have the problem, that I can't edit the documentation of a function module with the PC-Editor in one SAP system because of error SOFFICEINTEGRATION 205 ("Error occurred while reading object property"), but in other systems there is no problem.

How to produce the problem: Using SE80 to edit a function module, click on the button "Function Module Documentation" (in german "Fbausteindokumentation") - the system checks to call the PC-Editor, which fails in one system with above mentioned error, in other systems the PC-Editor (MS Word) is called. - See the example pictures attached to this discussion.

It must be a system specific problem, but all properties that I have compared (SAP Logon-Options, user options, SE80 options, transaction "oaor" (with class name SAPSCRIPTWORDINTEGRATION2 and class type OT)) are the same in all tested systems.

I had a similar problem on my old computer - and the newly installation of SAP GUI helped. In the actual case the new installation doesn't solve the problem.

What is wrong in the errorneous system and how can I correct the situation?

Thank you for reading - and hopefully helping me

Regards

Raphael Ostermann-Goletz

Yes I can confirm the problem is the 64bit Office.

Also, in the past I made some VB Macros which used RFC to download data to Excel. However these macroses does not work on 64bit MS Office. In the begining I thought that it was because of switching 2003->2010 versions, but it's not.

Hi Suman,

I have the same issue. SAP GUI 730 just cannot integrate correctly with my office 2010. I installed the last patch number 7 - but no change! My colleague with GUI 710 have no problem with this!

Have you got any solution?

Some of our client's users are facing the same problem with SAP gui 720 when using transaction MD04 and trying to access the material memo created by a user. SAPgui versions vary from 720 to 730.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Error message is "Error occurred while reading object property" "Message nr SOFFICEINTEGRATION205".

Hello together,

now we changed to SAP GUI 730 Patch Level 7 (the same as Ilian Grigorov uses with no effect), with first deinstalling MS Office 2010 (64-Bit), new installation of MS Office 2010 (32-Bit) and then upgrading SAP GUI. The result is, that the error 205 doesn't appear anymore - Word is called as "PC-Editor" and is integrated in the SAP-Container, but with a little "mistake": A Word-menue called "SAP" is visible. As in the error-205 situation only one single system shows this behaviour (and "150" other systems are ok).

So the problem of Office-Integration seems to be

  • system-specific,
  • independent from Office-Installation (situation differs, but there is still a different behaviour),
  • independent from SAP GUI-Installation (total new installation or upgrade), [discussable, because in former computers the problem changed from one to another system after total new installation of SAP GUI...]
  • user-independent (because collegues of mine have [now] the same behaviour).

The SOfficeIntegration-configuration must be stored in the system itself. But where? Which parameters are responsible?

Greetings

Raphael
