Sap Long Text Editor

Hi all,

I have a problem with the SAP long text editor settings.

We have version SAP_BASIS 702 0010 SAPKB70210 SAP Basis Component.

Using a Windows 7 PC, I login to windows with my user, then I loggin to SAP using my user.

     When I edit long text I get the Word text editor.  < This is what I want >

Using a Windows 7 PC, I login to windows with my user, then I loggin to SAP using someone elses user.

     When I edit long text I get the old text editor.  < This is not what I want >

     If I try to change the editor in GOTO --> Change Editor, I get an error.  SOFFICEINTEGRATION231.

Can someone help me with this?

Hi Curtis

Is this the first time you are getting this error?  Meaning was it working previously?

Anyways..  Please verify that you have linked the text editor appropriately..?

You can do following check.

Go to Tcode I18N

Double click - System Configuration

Link to the editor - say MS Word

and Activate

Thank you for your response!

I get this error on the same machine with different user.

For one user it works and for another user it does not work using the same PC with Windows 7.

When I do your check I get the following message

MS Word is a default editor now.  Please read SAP Note 742662.

Our SAP version does not permit to change or deactivate the text editor anymore.

As specified in OSS note 742662

Please note: As of release SAP NW 7.0, enhancement package 1 and SAP NW 7.10 SP 05 the MS Word Editor is the only graphical editor available.

You do not need to enable the editor and also cannot disable it.

Oh.. then you may please contact the Basis Team..  I do not know how to resolve this as of now..

- Is this problem raised by every transactions that use long text or only one transaction ?

- Which version of Word do you use, and the other user ?

- Do you log in with same language than user ?

I was an authorisation problem. I ran tcode su53 an the user did not have the necessary permissions.
