Is there any way of renaming a function *group?

Oh yes. Good point. Create new function group - reassign function modules to new function group etc.

I do not think that we can rename a function group.....but what u can do is...

Go to transaction SE80.....

Enter your function group name...Right click on the function group...Click on COPY..copy the function group into another function group and delete the old function group....

May be this will help...but not sure whether renaming is possible..
