Regarding ALE-BAPI

Dear All,

Can I use BAPI instead of IDocs with ALE?? Would you provide step by step configuration for this?? I need to send the HR masterdata with 5 to 6 infotypes.

Which method is useful i.e ALE/IDOCs or ALE/BAPI.

But whtat is the difference b/w ALE-BAPI and normal Bapi. Becasue BAPI itself used for interfacing then what is the spl use of ALE-BAPI??

Hi friend ,

The comparison is improper .

IDocs can be passed to external system through 2 possible ways -

1) Through ALE Layer ( Using T-RFC port )

2) Through EDI Layer ( Using File Port )

But BAPIs are used to update application documents ( they are Standard FM )

Other way to do the same is using Batch Data Communication ( BDC )

Hi,

Whether u use ALE-BAPI or ALE With Message Types IDocs will be generated.

Why ALE-BAPI?

Instead of adding the message types to the partners in the Dist.Model you add a BAPI..If you do so then BAPI will take care of rest.For eg u have added a BAPI for sending USERCLONE IDocs..The the Correponding BAPI USER Read the User Profiles from the Sender and Passes it on to the Receiver..Meant Your Outbound Program is embedded into BAPI...Incase of Normal ALE-Mess.Type your Outbound Program Could be a Function Module / Standalone Program(Report)..

Thanks for your reply. I understand difference b/w ALE-IDOC and ALE-BAPI. But would you explain the diff b/w Normal BAPI and ALE-BAPI?? That means why we use ALE-BAPI other than only BAPI??
