Hi all,
data : l_string type string .
open dataset name in input mode encoding default
then i am using read dataset name into l_string.
this read dataset is giving code page conversion error from codepage '4110' to codepage '4102'
kindly help
note : i have also tried using encoding utf-8 in open dataset , but not working

Hi,
So it means, you dont want to overwrite your existing file.
In that case save the file with time stamp. i.e.
TEMP_20070907_101500.txt
You can pass the file name along with time stamp in the program.
Else provide file name as parameter on your report screen.

<b>If the system is a Unicode system:</b>
open dataset gw_file in text mode encoding default.
While saving the text file, if you are using notepad, then in the SAVE AS pop-up select encoding as UTF-8I.
<b>If the system is a Non-Unicode system:</b>
SET LOCALE LANGUAGE <>. Specify the language
open dataset gw_file in text mode encoding NON-UNICODE.
While saving the text file, if you are using notepad, then in the SAVE AS pop-up select encoding as ANSI.

Thanx for a prompt response
i am using Unicode sustem.
i saved the file as utf-8 format and then the read dataset is working properly.
but my problem is every time a new file is going to come in that folder
i cant do " SAVE AS " utf-8 for each of them.
how do i do it programmatically
