NWBC User Type

Hello Gurus,

NWBC (Netweaver Business Client 3.0) wouldn't allow me to login when I switch the user type from "Dialog" to "Service" type. However, I'm able to login through regular SAP GUI when I switch to Service type. Can anyone help me understand why NWBC doen't allow service type login and also what needs to be done to make this work? Thanks for all your help.

The reason why it doesn't work is because SAP has not allowed it:

The following error occurred in system DE1 : The user "NWBC" must be of type "DIALOG" user. Use transaction SU01 to check the user type.

Why SAP has done this is probably related to security, single signon reasons or possibly something completely different, I have not seen any arguments from SAP so far what the real reason is.

You might be able to get creative and find away around this but you might risk the anger of SAP and also be breaking some license agreements, who knows, even possibly getting your system into a not supported system by SAP.

Hi,

you have to use dialog user. SAP does not generate logon tickets for service users and hence service users can't be used with NWBC. NWBC uses logon tickets heavily.
