Message Function in Partner Profiles

Guys,

Can any one explain the significance of using Message Function in the Partner Profile Setup.I would appreciate if you can provide me any material also.

This field can be used to differentiate between processing of the same message type. You can create several partner profiles using the same message type. But because you fill in the message code field, you can assign different process codes.

Else you are only allowed one entry for the message type.

hi,

A message type represents the application message exchanged between R/3 systems and R/3 and an external system.

A message type characterises the data sent across systems and relates to the structure of the data called an IDOC type.

message code & message function can be used to assign uniqueness for a partner profile when several idoc types have same message types
