Hi,
While attempting to go into change mode to change a standard SAP screen attribute value, the system displays the following warning message:
-
Caution: Incompatible code page.
One of the following has occurred:
1. You want to change this object in the language German (DE).
2. You can only change this object in the language German (DE).
Log on in the language German (DE), or in a language with the same code page, before you make this changes in German.
If you continue, the incompatible code page could cause errors in all texts when you save.
-
What does this message/warning mean? If you only change the screen attribute without changing or adding texts, does it really matter that the change is made in English?

Jerry

hi Jerry,
As you know, its only a warning and hence you can ignore it.
But the reason why it is coming is, the warning message is triggered the moment
user tries to change a standard, by checking the object language and logon
language; meaning it is not checking what changes are done, rather before
doing any change it is throwing the warning, saying you are going to change the
standard in a different language.
bottom line is, it is a warning to make sure that the user knows logon language
is different from the langauge in which the object is maintained.
Hope this helps,
Sajan Joseph.
