hi all,

Could any one explain how much time does usually an Implementation project take.

In Implementation when we will be going for live. I mean as an abaper we will be creating no of objects. Do we send all the objects at a time into live or else we will be sending one by one object into live as we develop it.

thanks & regards

Hi,

There are many steps on the road to a successful implementation. First of all, I would want to ensure that the project has solid support from the senior executive of the company. With this in place, a project management team can be secured to lay the foundation for a great project. This project management team needs to assess the current need and develop an initial scope of work, resource requirements, plan and budget. With this initial project information, funding needs to provided to move the project to the next step. This would involve recruiting additional project resources to develop detailed business requirements and a finite scope. Once the scope is clearly defined and agreed you can continue with your project methodology of configuration and development, testing, data conversion, training, cutover and golive!

and Please go through this,

i guess there is no hard and fast rule that it has to golive by this time.

Usually it takes 1.5 /2 yrs....or a little more.

time or delay is dependent on the nature of the business and various other things like budget etc.

Most of the times go-lives are delayed from the pre decided date.

All the objects are moved at a time to production or splitting them based on the priorities is also done.

Usually MAster data goes first....it's priority.

Please excuse....if I have said something wrong. Am still learning

Hi,

You can determine the duration by yourself if u understand the flow clearly.

DEV server :

You will be creating objects in DEV server and create a transport request no. for them using se03.

Mostly all your objects will be in one package and better have 1 transport request for all ur changes/new objects.

Release to QA server :

u will release the transport in se10 by giving the request no. and click lorry symbol.and basis people will take care of the transport.

Now after QA testing its ready to sign off.

If any changes have to be done, go back to DEV do the changes, unit test ..

Finally move it to PROD.thats called go-live.

Hope you might have got a clear idea now.

Let me know if you need more clarification.
