Hi experts
I want to protect my ABAP programs from other users from changing it.
How to protect my program by setting password or not allowing only display mode like.
Please suggest me on this.
Thanks in advance.

Don't do it. What happens if you are off sick, or get run over by a bus?! Who can fix your code then?
Simple rule of development, you shouldn't hide or lock your code.

Hi,
The best way is to have a backup. COpy the code & keep it in a notepad file.
or copy the program in sap itself as a temporary program.

Create a lock object and include ur program in that.
The tr code for creating lock object is SE11.
Pls reward if helpful.

Hi Raja,
If in case you want to lock the development done by you in SAP,then while the report is open in the ABAP edtor, click on GoTo and then Attributes at the menu bar and then check the checkbox "Editor Lock".
Nobody will be able to make any changes to your program unless and until logged by your user ID.
In case you have any further clarifications,do let me know.

Puneet Jhari.

I vote with Gareth - just don't do it. The "editor lock" setting takes most programmers about 30 seconds to remove, so it's just an annoyance if someone in your development team starts to do it. And if you are using Version Management, you should always be able to get back to your old code anyhow if something stuffs up.
So to repeat the words of wisdom above: "Simple rule of development, you shouldn't hide or lock your code."

Hi,
You can set it in the program attribute.
Check the Editor Lock. so that no body other than your login can edit.
Thanks

As Jonathan said, Version management is probably the best bet.
Just create a version of your code whenever you want, In case some body changes it without informing you , you can restore your version back in about 5 seconds.
This not only protects your code from others mistakes but your own mistakes too.
