How to practice ABAP while learning?

Hi

I recently started taking classes for ABAP, and also bought a book Complete ABAP.

I installed the Developer Edition for practice.

There aren't many practice examples or assignments in the book, and my tutor also is not very helpful.

With other programming languages there are a lot of resources to learn online.

I am completely lost on how to practice the ABAP coding.

Can somebody help me, how to practice for each topic.

Is there a Cook book for ABAP or any other resource to practice and get better at ABAP programming.

Thanks

The "ABAP Cookbook" and "The Future of ABAP" are good Books. Packt Publishing (link / link) and Espresso Tutorials (link) also have some ABAP-Books worth looking into.

Also, the SAP ABAP Tutorials from the SAP Website can provide an Entrypoint to (new) ABAP Development : https://www.sap.com/developer/tutorial-navigator.tutorials.html?tag=topic:abap-development#tutoria....

It depends on what you want to do or what your Company / Team is working on, as ABAP and SAP have evolved in recent years to embrace other platforms, tools and solutions (such as REST-API's, OData, CDS-views, Fiori-Backend code through Gateway, etc.). There's more to ABAP these days than writing Enhancements and Reports in ERP.

There is an ABAP cookbook here: https://www.sap-press.com/abap-cookbook_2174/ - I recommend checking it out

Are there any resources to know how real time Development is done.

Any projects or challenges available online.

Hi - I am not sure I follow the "real time" question; perhaps you can watch SAP TechEd Online in a few weeks about ABAP in the Cloud? (just a guess) https://events.sap.com/teched/en/home

You could try Paul Hardy's ABAP books. They've usually got reasonably realistic examples.

On that front it's worth looking at OpenSAP courses.
