How to add new fields in BAPI Structure for Material Master through BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA

I have a requirement to add additional custom fields to the material master and populate them with data from Material Master Create using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA. How do you extend the BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA structures to include those custom fields?

You need to create an Append Structure for your Custom Fields and add these in the "EXTENSIONIN". Depending on which table the Custom fields refer to, you need to Create an Append Structure of type "BAPI_TE_MARA" / "'BAPI_TE_MAKT" / "BAPI_TE_MLGN" / ...

BAPI are (usually) well documented so first step is read BAPI function and parameters documentation.

Thank you very much for your help. The issue was around the configuration of the fields. They weren't extended through SPRO to allow for updating. Configuration updated and all is fine now.
