i have special requirement from client to modify the most frequent occurring obsolete statement like ws_download to replace gui_download while upgrading .
i am able to read the report with the help of read report statement and also able to comment using insert report 'reportname' from code. but i am not able to add blank line in the existing report .
ex: ws_download - consist of less line than gui_download in program . i am able to replace the line but when i replace the extra line of gui_download function than existing line of program get replaced . plz help me .
I understand that when you are using the code "INSERT REPORT <report_name> FROM <it_abapcode>", the parameter <it_abapcode> is an internal table. Here, you can append blank lines and it should work.

thanks , i found a way to append lines and even blank line . i have replaced automatically ws_download to gui_ download but i got struck some where else in this process .
my query is :
ws_download consist of exporting parameter filename and also the same case with gui_download but datatype for both are different ws_download type is char[72] and gui_download type is string . so i get type conflict error. i have figured out that i need to change the datatype of existing parameter in report dynamically but how to do it ? . can i go for field symbol r any other easy way . plz guide me .. thanks in advance ..
