Difference between MYSAP 2005 and ECC 6.0

Hi All,

Can you Please explain what are the components that come under MYSAP 2005

and ECC 6.0.

Like what are the modules that come under these.

Hi,

For the differences between mySAP ERP 2004 and 2005 from a hardware perspective, please see SAP Note 901070.

It is a full upgrade to upgrade from mySAP ERP 2004 to 2005 (not simply applying support packages). Of course the impact of even a technical upgrade depends on the functionality that you have deployed and if there are major changes between the 2004 and 2005 release. In most cases this is minimal but investigation is required and you should test everything for signoff. Do not let a technical upgrade be considered a no brainer, some people get tripped up with not checking everything and finding the unexpected after go live.

You mentioned that you want to start using xSS. I would suggest that you start with mySAP ERP 2005 as there are technology changes in mySAP ERP 2005 in the xSS solution and it will save you rework in the long term - xSS is written in Web Dynpro for Java and not ITS based in mySAP ERP 2005.

In regard to satisfaction with the upgrade, I would suggest you ask SAP to talk to references and check with your local SAP user group to see if anyone has done it.

I'm not sure what you mean by mySAP 2005?

The mySAP Business Suite is a collection of all the mySAP xxx solutions (where xxx = ERP, CRM, SRM, PLM and SCM.

mySAP ERP 2005 is the current ERP solution. SAP ECC 6.0 is part of mySAP ERP 2005. ECC stands for ERP core components. If you read the mySAP ERP 2005 master guide (downloadable from http://service.sap.com/instguides) you will see that SAP ECC 6.0 is the minimum that you can install of mySAP ERP 2005.

ECC includes all the application modules that were delivered with SAP R/3 4.6C and in SAP R/3 Enterprise including extension sets. So this includes FI, HR, MM, PP, SD, CO, AM, etc. In addition with mySAP ERP 2005, most of the industry solution that were add-ons are now part of ECC. It just keeps getting bigger
