data base utility problem

Hi Friends,

I have created on custom table which contains 10 fields... i have some 3000 records in it.... i have provided Table maintaince sm30

Now i have deleted 2fields in that table and later i have used se14 to adjust the table ie : i have selected the radiobutton

processing type = direct and selected save data radio button and then clicked on

activate and adjust database..

iam getting mesage executed sucessfully but when in sm30 when i have entered the table name and clicked on disyplay or maintain iam getting a shotdump...

how can i avoid this..... does anything additional needs to be done

Keep a backup of the old entries just on a safer side...

You have to re-create the table manit. generator.

Hi,

Can you tell me how can i back up the data.....

And in what cases do i need to go for database utility some probable cases which i got after searching the form..

a) when new fields are added - true

b) when some fields are deleted - true

c) when i change the delevery class ..... should i need to run database utility ...?

d) when i change the technical settings should i need to run database utility ...?

e) when i change anything at field level ie : any attribute of dataelement or domain do i need to adjust the database utility..?

Can any one let me know..

Any changes you make, its always better to run the DB utilities...

to backup the data (its not neccessary) hit the table entries and remove the 200 hit count in the bottom and let the whole data be in the display and use save to xls file or text file. You got to do a little more research for some more options to backup the data...

Create a table maintainance generator...

In SE11 go to Utilities --> table maintainance generator

Give authorization group

Auth Object

Function Group (First Create a new Function group in SE37)

You need to re-generate the table maintainence for the custom table. But remember to have the back of the data.

Hi satish,

you can regenerate the table maintenance generator in se11 by selecting

utilities->table maintenace generator.

here u can slect change button where in u get a pop up for selecting the reason for change ,

select the last option ,the maintenance will be regenerated with out removing the data.

Data will be present.no issues.but to be on safe side just copy the data to excel.
