Hi,
Sorry if this is something obvious I should know but Iu2019m a Basis guy and have asked all the ABAPu2019ers I can find but I canu2019t find where to create a custom application component. I can see them in transaction SE81 like below but canu2019t create:
SAP Application Components
- IS-CWM Industry Solution Catch Weight Management
- AP Application Platform
- CA Cross-Application Components
- EP Enterprise Portal
- . . . .
- ZAPP My companyu2019s custom component
I actually want to use this in the Solution Manager Service Desk so we can forward tickets automatically for our custom applications. Thank you for your help,
David

Hi David,
It should be SE82 to go to the hierarchy of custom application components (cannot be mixed with standard ones of SE81).

I hope this is a joke; if there were a create button I would certainly press it.

Hi Rob,
I wish I could include screen shots but there is no create button nor any way to change to change mode in SE81 (I have SAP_ALL).
Under menu item "Application node" the options "Display <-> Change", "Create Package Assignment" & "Delete Package Assignment" are all grayed out.
Under "Edit" there is only "Select Subtree */-", "Select Node */-", "Choose", "Expand subtree", "Collapse subtree", "Set Focus", "Position" & "Cancel.
There is nothing under "Goto", "Utilities", "Settings" or "Environment" to enable change.
Is your system an SAP system? I mean an SAP original system in Walldorf where you might have more ability to do things than a customer can like change Basis components or something? Thanks,
David

SAP_ALL doesn't necessarily give you the ability to do everything. So, I think this is an authorization issue.
In display mode, enter "SWIT" in the command field in the top left and note the message that appears.

Hi Rob,
I get message "Function code cannot be selected" when I enter "SWIT".
OK, now this is getting wierd. SE81 does not have a change mode on my Enhancement Pack 4 ECC system but DOES on EHP3 as well as a reqular NetWeaver 7.01 BW and also Solution Manager 7.01 system.
However, even on the systems that have a change mode, the create button is for "Create Package Assignment". I did this and it just assigns a package (Dev Class) to the existing application component, it does not create a new application component. Any thoughts? Thanks,
David

Thanks Bob and Sandra,
I guess for my purposes the answer is no. I did create one as Sandra said in SE82 but it doesn't show up in any of the dropdown lists where you would select the component. For my specific request I wanted to use the custom application component when creating a Service Desk ticket in Solution Manager so I could assign and report on tickets for our SAP as well as custom developments. C'est la vie, thanks,
David
