What kind of information should we know about a "Client" as a ABAP Developer.
How to explain business scenario of a report ,or for any object.
whats the average time taken to develop a report ,and BDC and Script.
Whats are tickets in implementation.
do we need to have a functional knowledge to explain our objects in interview.
and finally ,
to what extent do we need to have functional knowledge to succeed in interviews.

Hi,
The most important thing to know about a client - <b>Business of the client.</b>
the following should be gathered at the client;s place
1. The process followed at the client's place.
2. Client does not mind technical aspects...what matters is your communication skill. Whether you can understand the clients business scenario. For this you need funcitonal knowledge. Remember...All clients may not know SAP. So sometimes we need to explain what is possible in SAP n what is not ....
3. Never hesitate to say that you do not know.... you can say that you would try... Client will always consider this. never make a false statement....
4. The technical aspects come at the last.

>What kind of information should we know about a "Client" as a ABAP Developer.
Maybe we need to know, what modules they have implemented...
>How to explain business scenario of a report ,or for any object.
I think that...That job is for Technical Consultants -:)
>whats the average time taken to develop a report ,and BDC and Script.
I depends of course, in your experience and in the complexity of the program....Usually 2 days is fine...1 for develop and 1 for testing.
>do we need to have a functional knowledge to explain our objects in interview.
I don't think so...I don't have functional knowledge....but have almost 5 years of ABAP experience -;)
>to what extent do we need to have functional knowledge to succeed in interviews.
It depends on the module....

Blag.

You may have received functional spec before developing an object. If so, explain what was the business requirement. I believe, this functional background mentioned in the FS is sufficient to explain your object.
Usually, we work on tickets in production support or post implemention in terms of change requests or system investigation report.
It is good to have as much as functional knowledge. It developes by interacting or seeking clarifications with your functional consultant. Ofcourse, only relevant queries.
Thanks,
