BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA Problem for creating material

Hello,

I am using bapi BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA for creating a material. U know material number is a mandatory field in it. But as per my requirement i want to create a material with out giving material number in the initial screen of MM01. Sytem will generate material number with internal number sequence.

Is there any way to create material using this BAPI with out passing material number. Please help.

Program where u r generating the material number.....u can call this bapi after generation of material number....

Based on settings for the material type you can generate the material number internally also. so check with your functional team..
